Open a dependent case

A dependent case may be needed if you have family members that require dependent sponsorship. Dependents include your spouse and any children under the age of 21. If you have family members that require sponsorship, a separate case may need to be opened for them in your Envoy account.

Identifying dependent family members

When completing the primary case questionnaire, in most cases you will notice a section labeled Dependents. If you indicate in this section that you have a dependent family member, the legal team will contact you to open a case for them.

Determining if a dependent case is needed

Specifically for US-inbound cases, a dependent case will not be required if your dependent is born in the U.S. If you are unsure whether you require a dependent case, please post a message to the Envoy Communication Center, and the legal team will advise.

Opening dependent cases

If a dependent case is needed, please contact Envoy Customer Experience. You are not able to open dependent cases within your Envoy account.

💡 We may require approval from your sponsoring employer (if applicable) to open dependent cases. Your employer will determine responsibility of payment; if you are responsible for payment, you will be contacted with a price quote prior to the case being opened.

For more information on Envoy’s billing policies and making payment, please view the Billing and Payments article.
